Dolphins bred by artificial insemination



Three of the most endangered dolphin species in the world, the Baiji of China, the Bhulan of Pakistan and the Susu of India, Nepal and Bangladesh are found in Asian Rivers. Serveral other species such as the Finless Porpoise, The Indo-Pacific Hump-Backed Dolphin and Irrawaddy Dolphin inhabit some of Asia's most extensively developed and heavily used coastal water.

  • Locally known as the Chinese White Dolphin.
  • Found in coastal Indian and Western Pacific Oceans.
  • Threatened by habitat loss (e.g. reclamation), pollution, vessel traffic and fishing.
  • World's rarest dolphin critically endangered.
  • Fewer than 100 remain.
  • Only found in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River, China.
  • Found in East India to Vietnam and Northern Australia.
  • Small populations declining from habitat loss, logging and entanglement in fishing nets.
