- You Know What
-
Coral reefs have existed for over 200 million years. A coral reef grows less than three centimetres a year. At that rate, it takes a very long time for a large reef to form!
- Our Earth Say
-
Around 84 species of corals can be found in Hong Kong waters. They grow mainly along the northeast and eastern shores, forming communities in shallow coastal waters.

Atoll Reef
Step into the world beneath the ocean, without ever getting wet! Explore the Indo-Pacific marine ecosystem exactly as it looks under the water at the Atoll Reef. Designed as a panoramic coral island, the Atoll Reef spans four floors of aquariums and is home to around 2,000 fishes close to 250 species, including sharks, the Bowmouth Guitarfish (Rhina ancylostoma), Eagle Ray (Aetobatus narinari), Cownose Ray (Rhinoptera javanica) and Black Spotted Sting Ray (Taeniura melanospila), for which a second generation was successfully bred here at Ocean Park.
